We focused on summer science activities for this summer school:
First day: We made bubbles! Everyone got a plastic cup and talked about how we make bubbles.
We each put some water and dish soap and mixed it well. We also added some of our favorite food color in it
to make it colorful.
Then with a straw, we tried to blow slowly to make many different sizes of bubbles.
As we blew slowly we made big bubbles and as we blew a bit faster we made lots and lots of small bubbles that
came out from the straw!
We also made snake bubbles using a plastic bottle, a towel, a rubber band and some straws that's banded together.
As we blew on the straws that's touched on soap and water, it became bubbles that looked like a snake!!
Second day: we made slime after talking about what we need in order to make slime.
We first put water, food color and borax and stirred it very well. Then we added some laundry starch.
As we put the laundry starch we saw how the it got slimy and how it feels like when we touch it.
Third day: we made play dough! We put lots of flour and some salt in a big bowl and mixed it with hands.
How does it feel? It felt very powdery!
Next we put a bit of oil and water in it. Now how does it feel? It felt very sticky!!
We mixed well with hands and adjusted the texture with adding more water and flour.
When it got closer to the play dough texture, we made one big mountain to make a volcano!
On the top of the mountain we made a hole and in that hole we put baking powder and dish soap with red food color.
We stirred it well then finally we added lots of vinegar on top of it to make it look like lava coming down with volcano!
We also had a chance to make some of our own play dough to take home after adding our favorite color on it and
kneaded it very well until it turned into our favorite color!
We all enjoyed the fun and messy summer science activities together!
